Pina Colada Mocktail

If you like Pina Colada’s, then look no further than this bad boy for an alcohol-free alternative. The Pina Colada is one of the go to drinks for many people on holiday in the sun, but it also serves as an iconic Christmas / Winter Mocktail at a family get to together.

Whilst you could quite easily omit the Rum and still get a lovely refreshing drink, my version uses a drink called “Rumish” which ironically tastes, well…. Rumish…. Who knew!

I recently met the inventor of this at a recent event (yes there was free samples) and I was amazed how nice it is and the name is just superb. The same company also sells “Ginish” (yes, it’s Ginish) and you can buy both from Holland & Barratt and online so check it out.

Also, whilst a traditional Pina Colada (depending on where you are in the world) uses Coconut cream, I have used Coconut milk but feel free to use cream for a more viscous drink. I guess it depends on your own taste, and the same goes for a dodgy umbrella so I will leave that up to you.

Ingredients:

50 ml Rumish (optional for a more adult feel)

60ml Coconut milk or cream

150 to 175 ml Pineapple Juice

1 – 2 Tbsp Sugar syrup

2/3 Glass of ice

Pineapple slice and cocktail cherry for garnish

Method:

It is as easy as 1, 2, 3 with this:

  1. Either blitz the ice in a blender or opt for the more therapeutic option of wrapping it in a clean tea towel and smashing it with a rolling pin, wrapped in a clean tea towel
  2. Pile all the ingredients, apart from the garnish, into a shaker and give it a steady shake, not forgetting to put the lid on.
  3. Pour out into a suitable glass and slice the garnish so you can add it to the side of the glass
  4. Top up with ice if necessary

As its Winter, all you need to do now is find your sunglasses turn on the “big light” and the fire and relax.

I am sure you will enjoy this and the Rumish is a versatile non-alcoholic spirit so get adventurous.

Tip: For different size glasses just use the same ratio and remember this is one of the easiest drinks to play around with to suit your own taste so mix it up!

All the best…. Darren
